Native iPhone · Private by default

The pack-planning assistant that actually knows your gear.

Most gear apps are a spreadsheet with a nicer font. HikeLite keeps your kit, shapes it into loadouts for each kind of trip, and pairs it with Lumen, an assistant that remembers what you own and audits it, so you stop spending hours doing that by hand.

Requires iPhone with iOS 27. Lumen runs on the device. No account needed.

Lumen

An assistant, not a chatbot bolted onto a database.

Lumen is one assistant across the whole app. It remembers what you told it on the gear screen when you open a loadout, and it works from your actual closet and pack, not generic advice.

Shakedown

Reads your loadout and points at the heaviest swaps, with the weight each one would save.

Clean Out

Finds duplicates, retired gear, and things you keep carrying but never use.

Trip fit and checklist check

Checks a loadout against the trip and flags what is missing before you are at the trailhead.

Add gear without typing

Scan a barcode, photograph a hang tag, say it out loud, or paste a product link.

Like-for-like alternatives

Suggests swaps within the same kind of gear, so a tent is compared to tents, not to trekking poles.

Never guesses the math

The app computes every weight. Lumen explains and recommends; it does not do the arithmetic.

Example · sample gear

Shake down my Lake Loop Weekend.
Shelter is your heaviest category at 52 oz. Swapping the freestanding two-person tent for a 22 oz solo shelter would save 30 oz and bring your base weight from 11 lb 2 oz to 9 lb 4 oz. Your quilt and pad are already in range.Based on the 14 items in this loadout.

Gear

A locker that leads with your kit, not a dashboard.

Your Big Three up front (shelter, sleep system, pack), and everything else one tap away.

Every kind of gear

Shelter, sleep, pack, clothing, cook, water, electronics, navigation, first aid, hygiene, repair and more, with retired gear kept visible and a wish list for upgrades.

Bring your data, take it with you

Import a LighterPack CSV to start, export one whenever you like. Your closet is local first.

Loadouts & trips

Build a loadout once. Reuse it every time a trip fits.

A loadout is a kit shaped for a kind of trip. A trip is when and where you use it.

Loadouts by shape

Day, overnight, weekend or extended, each with its own base, worn, consumable and skin-out totals.

Trips with a plan

Import a GPX track, set dates, choose a loadout, and the checklist follows the trip.

Share the result

Turn a loadout into a clean pack portrait you can post or send to a hiking partner.

Privacy

Your gear stays on your phone.

Your closet, loadouts, trip history and Lumen conversations stay on the device. One opt-in exception, off by default: you can let Lumen's deepest analyses (shakedowns, trip fit, clean-outs) run on Apple Private Cloud Compute, which needs no account and keeps nothing after it answers. Ordinary chat, gear entry and gear photos never leave the device. Read the privacy policy.

Pricing

A free core. Pro for the heavy planners.

The closet, loadouts, Lumen and manual entry are in the free core. Pro adds unlimited saved loadouts, trip history, efficiency stats, gear reviews and group trip sharing.
